My newest exploration science fiction series offers readers a chance to become sponsors. When you sponsor a legacy in the new story, your callsign will be associated with that legacy either throughout the series or within an individual book. Sponsoring a legacy is a “pay what you want” purchase. Each item has a minimum amount, but a sponsor can contribute more if they wish. These are one-time contributions. Not subscriptions.
Sponsorships are how we crowdfund new stories. It’s part of the Action Faction program. Not only can you contribute to the writing and publishing of individual ebooks, audiobooks, paperbacks, hardcovers and videobooks, but you can also contribute to entire series as well. When you do, your sponsorship is associated with something that actually appears in the story and has an effect on events in that story. Your contributions can change the story while it is being written! Your legacy could be a device, a structure, a setting, a vehicle, an important NPC, a waypoint, or even extra energy for the characters to use. From that point forward, every time your legacy appears in the story you can say “I sponsored that!”
